Hello people, I own 4 different Savage 4 cards but apparently noone of them works fine apparently.
I tried them on 2 different computers:
1) Sis universal agp chipset where I test all my agp cards.
2) Abit BE6-II with 440bx.

I tried the following driver versions on windows 98 se:
4.11.01.8008 ERD
4.12.01.8226
treiber-savage4-w9x-8.20.38

I tried to disable the video chacheable system in the bios just to be safe.

First card is: DH-Savage4

It claims to be a Savage4 32mb.
Clock: 110/125
This one crashes with this error on windows 98 (works fine in dos):

Second card: Diamond S3 Savage4 pro 8mb with no heatsink
Picture: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/IUkAAOSwxqZjIYXu/s-l1600.jpg
Clock: 120/100
This one crash on windows 98 before the desktop, the screen is balck with hourglass mouse cursor not moving.

Third card: Diamond Stealth III 540 16mb AGP Savage 4
Picture: https://www.vgamuseum.info/images/palcal/diam … nd/ds3s540b.jpg
Clock: 125/125
This card was able to boot fine in windows after I installed the driver but then hanged after 3 seconds.

Fourth card: Number Nine Savage 4 with 16mb of sgram
Picture: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/common … 2886C398%29.jpg
Clock: 143/153
This one keep sending the lcd monitor out of range, but when I was able to boot on windows it worked fine.

What's wrong with those cards? Clearly something is wrong but the chance that 3 out of 4 are broken (after having bought them as working), it's quite sketchy.

Try the A-Trend driver CD from Phil's website.

I had similar issues with my own Savage4, and only those drivers turned out to be stable for that particular card. Install them manually via Device Manager if the automated process doesn't work.

PC#1: Pentium MMX 166 / Soyo SY-5BT / S3 Trio64V+ / Voodoo1 / YMF719 / AWE64 Gold / SC-155
PC#2: AthlonXP 2100+ / ECS K7VTA3 / Voodoo3 / Audigy2 / Vortex2
PC#3: Core 2 Duo E8600 / Foxconn P35AX-S / X800 / Audigy2 ZS
PC#4: i5-3570K / MSI Z77A-G43 / GTX 980Ti / X-Fi Titanium

Ok I tried the drivers:
First and second card still doesn't work, black screen after installing the drivers.
Third card made to windows but when I tried to load incoming benchmark hanged
Fourth card worked fine.

A small update, I tried to update the bios of the 540 card, it works fine for like a minute and then hangs, now it did twice just after loading the incoming benchmark again, bluescreen and error in 06 0007:00006156.
The address always change, I also tried another stick of ram (just to be sure) but same error, definitely those cards have some quirks.
Is it possible to test the video ram in dos? Because there they work without any issue.

Go into Windows GUI acceleration and set the slider to 2/4 or 3/4, instead of 4/4.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

It's a mistery, now all cards works fine with the driver downloaded from Phils website, no need to move the Windows GUI slider.
To clean some mess about the Savage4 versions I added the core and memory clock to the first post.
