I have a Quadro 4 980XGL which is missing some SMD components on the rear side of the card.

Can anyone assist me with the values and size of the SMD components that need to be replaced please?

Component markings:

L809
C1428
C115

C1428 is same as C1429 and C115 is same as C118.

You should be able to find everything you need on a Ti 4200 donor card.
C1428 is identical to the other 3 "big" capacitors around the GPU. The caps are the same on a 4200 if you need one. If you need the value of the cap, you can desolder one of the other three and measure that. The capacitor is not critical for the operation for the card though.

L809 is just a SMD coil, you can steal pretty much any other coil in the same form factor from another card. They usually have another color than caps and resistors and have 0 Ohms across. Don't mistake for 0 Ohm bridge resistors.

C115 is a bit harder, maybe you can check pictures online if it has the exact same color as C118 - then desolder and measure that one. Judging by the arrangement of the resistors and traces, it could very well be.

On top, I didn't know Quadro 980 cards came with GC36 3.6ns memory. Does it clock at 275MHz then? My two cards have GC28 memory and 325MHz memory clock respectively.

Sorry, I see it's a Quadro 750 XGL.
It came from that famous online auction site and the seller listed it as a 980 XGL.

I don't have a donor Geforce 4 Ti to salvage the components from.

I wanted order the parts from Alie but I need to be specific about the specifications when I buy online.

I would definitely just go and find a scrap card - anything between Radeon 7500 and 9800 Pro or GeForce 3 and 5900 should have the right spare parts on board. But you're free to to it your way ofc.

as it those cards even non working would be cheaper than some transistors...

Come on - if you collect or even just busy yourself with old hardware, you'll have some donor stuff laying around. You can probably even find fitting components on cards as new as a GTX580, a random mainboard or a soundcard.

I used some components from another card without knowing if the values are correct.

I managed to get the Quadro to post but unfortunately it’s artifacting.

When the driver loads in Windows, the screen turns off.

I don’t have the skill to reball the memory.
I guess this one is a loss.

Can you post a pic of the artifacts on the post screen? A proper reflow could already fix it if it's really just a memory solder joint.

I've been busy and wasn't able to spend much time on my retro tech.

The image is quite bad. I'll power it up this weekend and take a pic.

I did try a reflow on 3 of the memory modules which clearly changed the image when I pressed down on them.
I suppose I just need to try a reflow on all modules, as it seems likely that if 3 modules had issues, there are probably others with broken solder joints as well.

The artifacting is too bad for me to read anything at the command line but just out of interest, is there a version of mods/mats that works with Geforce4 / Quadro4 cards?

I managed to fix the card with a reflow on all memory modules. It is working perfectly now. (and hopefully will remain so)
