Based on that, I don't see a reason to update. I don't have any of the problems listed there. My only BIOS problem is the 32GB HDD limit.

It came as part of the 1012 BIOS update package from a Gateway archive site (in this case Swedish) on Wayback...not all Gateway sites packaged download contents the same, and in this case it just happened to have the info you were looking for.
