Hey,

I've recently bought the Soyo SY-5VA board on a flea market. It seemed completely fine except for the ps2 mouse. I used an adapter from another working pc that I know works (and I know the pinout is correct). Once I load the mouse drivers in DOS (tried Logitech drivers and ctmouse) it will detect the mouse just fine, but as soon as I move the mouse it seems like the entire computer freezes and it doesn't react to anything anymore.

Has anyone seen this before or any clue what might be causing this?

I did some more tests and it also has problems with the com ports. To me this clearly indicates that something is wrong with the Super IO chip. All the traces and signals going there are fine for as far as I can tell. So I worked around it with an RS232 ISA card I got from AliExpress. Now I can use a serial mouse.
