I have an ISA CL-GD6235 which is a Cirrus Logic card with a VGA + LCD output, spec wise the chip supports 486 with local bus so in theory I think a VLB version could have been made.

But so far not found any reference to one, tbh there isn't a lot of info on CL-GD6235 based cards as I expect they never sold to consumers (given they are designed to be connected to a LCD). My MB supports has VLB slots (and EISA but they seems even more of a long shot!) so I'd love to upgrade the card without losing my TFT screen.

They may have been non Cirrus Logic VGA+TFT cards which would probably work but not sure where to start finding them.

It doesn't look like this chip is VLB compatible, although it can connect to different CPU buses directly but that's for full integration purposes in industrial machines etc.

I believe the best chip CL put in a VLB is the 5429.

Orchid Kelvin 64-VLB is based on CL-GD5434.
