I got a Packard Bell Axcell 50 machine, with what seems like a Packard Bell 640 board (with the CELP socket).
I noticed that although I got the 12v case fan installed, it was not working. After some beeping around, I found that one pin of the fan header is connected to ground via a 180nf capacitor (I think, I measured it in circuit), and the other, "power" pin is going to an empty pad, whose other side is connected to the 12v rail.
Is it safe to simple bridge this pad? Or do I need to put a resistor there (I just noticed it is marked as R3A3)?

Anyone? I'm a bit afraid that I'll fry something if I just short those pads. On the other hand, how do I calculate the resistor value?
