Hi.

I do have a Cyrix 5x586 gp100

Normally, I run that CPU with a FSB of 40, so at 120Mhz.
That CPU won't boot with 3X50

But my motherboard is weird and setting the FSB to 40 lower the memory bandwidth and somehow the integrated VLB video card have the same amount of Chr/ms (7300-7900) than running the bus at 33.

In the past, with a Cyrix DX2 and that later did boot with a 50Mhz bus, and while it's not supported on my motherboard (undocumented setting I found by mistake), it bring back the memory performance to about the same than a 33Mhz bus. But more interesting : the Video card do between 9000-10000 instead of the lower 7xxx

So the main question now :
As far as the memory go, running 40 instead of 33 still provide more performance most of the time.
But should I mod the board (adding a jumper to be able to short R17 to ground as needed to be able to set 2X).
That would allow me to run the CPU at 2x50, so it will be back to 100Mhz
But now only the memory is going to be faster and I will probably lose the L2... BUT My video card is going to have 9000-10000 chr/ms instead of 7xxx

You guys thing that pumping the video card is a good trade off to run the CPU 20Mhz less and without L2?
I'm thinking about that because I do play Transport Tycoon Deluxe and map scrolling is slow now that there is stuff moving everywhere, I wonder if that mod will help or no.

Note : I don't want to do the mod if there is no chance that will really be worth it. That motherboard have some cold join in the video circuitry (I think) and if I take the whole thing apart I will likely be having some video issue on windows for about a week or so, til it settle down itself.
