It was a bad computer, outrageously overpriced and underspecced. TNT2-m64, except its a 8MB 32bit video ram Vanta variant slower than normal TNT. Stupid expensive 820+RDRAM delivering tiny improvements over 440bx+SRDAM at +$1000 premium. DELL had an exclusive deal with Intel at the time being paid off ~$1Billion/year in exchange for not selling better cheaper competitor parts https://fortune.com/2007/02/15/suit-intel-pai … -use-amd-chips/ https://money.cnn.com/2010/07/23/technology/d … intel/index.htm

https://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/technology … ies/05chip.html

>In an e-mail note to Intel’s chief executive, Paul S. Otellini, Mr. Dell threatened to switch to A.M.D. “I am tired of losing business,” Mr. Dell wrote. “We are losing the hearts, minds and wallets of our best customers.”

>Mr. Otellini reminded Mr. Dell that Intel had paid Dell more than $1 billion in the last year. “This was judged by your team to be more than sufficient to compensate for the competitive issues,” he wrote. Dell delayed buying A.M.D. chips, and Mr. Otellini said in a later e-mail message to a colleague that Dell was “the best friend money can buy.”

You can build a shrine to corporate corruption with it at the center 😀
