Hi all, I picked up this Kaypro 4 a few months ago but haven't had a chance to poke around inside until recently.

I am not super familiar with these machines, but I noticed that this unit seems to have several modifications.
I have tested it to power on and it does fire up. I don't have any boot disks so naturally it doesn't get very far after that.

There is a 2-position switch on the front of the unit wired up to the mainboard. The CPU has a pretty neat red aluminum heatsink attached (overclocked?)

One of the original full-height 5.25" floppy drives has been replaced with two half-height drives. The other full-height drive is not connected at all.

It seems like the entire power supply board has been replaced with some sort of aftermarket board? Seems to be a lot more modern than images of the original board.

A new connector header was added to the rear of the machine, it seems to only tap into the power supply connector and has a header dangling under the motherboard.

Are these modifications typical of Kaypro systems? Again, not super familiar with these machines so I'm not sure if these are common mods or something special.

Thanks!
