Hi,
I've tried to search the forum for an answer to this but they fall into 2 categories:
- doesn't work
- speculation based on compatibility with Voodoo Rush, 2, and Banshee, that it "should" work
I'm using FreeDOS 1.3-RC5 and glide2x.ovl with a sha256 sum of `629c72f5bae31f61294e38b2599a62c580ed6ec3003f655853e980de8e35ddd5` and file size of 260016 bytes, available from here: https://soggi.org/files/driver/3dfx_Voodoo4-5 … 1_beta_Win9x.7z
Unfortunately, this approach will hang the game the instant it tries to render any 3D object or surface.
Let's put this issue to bed once and for all, shall we?
I've also tried the following environment variables suggested by Silent Loon:
SET SSTV2_FASTMEM=1
SET SSTV2_FASTPCIRD=1
SET FX_GLIDE_ALLOC_COLOR=2
This approach does not work for Voodoo 5500. If anyone knows anything useful in this matter - how can I perhaps properly debug this game, what kind of suite of tools I need for this - please do tell me. I'm sure a lot of people would love to try this game on newer cards than Voodoo 2 😀
