Hello vogons ,

Just found nvidia quadro fx 4500 card and before I going to buy it just wanted to know does possible to convert it to normal 7900gtx ? Could not find any info over web , just previous generations able to reflash bios but nvidia cut this option down.

DOS: 166mmx/16mb/Y719/S3virge
DOS/95: PII333/128mb/AWE64/TNT2M64
Win98: P3 900/256mb/SB live/3dfx V3
Win Me: Athlon 1333/256mb/Audigy2/Geforce 2 GTS
Win XP: E8500/4096mb/SB X-fi/Quadro fx 4500

7900 GTX uses different GPU - G71. Quadro FX 4500 is based on G70. So more or less FX 4500 equals to GeForce 7800 GTX but has twice the VRAM amount.
Games will run well even in the default "Quadro mode" I think the only difference is you can't change anisotropic filtering quality.

All late Quadro FX 4500 were silently shipped with G71, just as it was with 7800GS AGP. Although the memory is most certainly only rated at 1.4ns (1400MHz), so it won't be a perfect replacement anyway.
Anyway, you don't need to mod anything. Quadro cards can play all games just fine.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Thank you for your responses. Want to stick with fast dx9 card. Since it's only available option I'll try it .
