hi i am new, i am restoring an ibm netvista, the question is that i have two netvista, one board is a pro 300a afp celeron 950mhz processor with built in network connection and front ports, the other board is gigabite piii processor at 866mhz mhz.
I tried to put the piii 866 mhz processor to the pro 300a and it starts but with a bios update message, here I don't know what to do to avoid this message.

on the one hand, the pro 300a seems to be a better board or more complete because of the front usb connector and the internet output, although the gigabite has some connections to put that usb cable as well.

I have the doubt that the plate pro 300a yields less in cache although I put the processor piii to 866 mhz, then I need advice to know which assembly is the best if with the original plate gigabite 866 mhz piii or the pro 300 with the processor of this or his that is a celeron to 950 mhz.

I put some photos of the plates, when I finish the assembly I will put it in the forum, I have been reading the forum for a few years and I decided to register.
I have the original quipo complete of epoch and I will mount a roland ma12, voodoo sli and yamaha along with other things like the hammerhead 3dfx, webcam ect ...

Typical IBM.
My best guess is, the cpu is not officially listed in the bios and so the bios gives you this message.

I had this with a Netvista too: originally was fitted with a 866 cpu but when i bought it, there was a 733 fitted. The 733 was not listed, so it gave me an error. The system worked as expected.
When i switched for a 866 (to make it sticker-correct) the message was gone.
Both cpu's have about the same tdp and same voltage req so is just unsupported on paper.

Stuck at 10MHz...

Does the 6WMMC7 allow to be force flashed to retail? If so, IMO I'd go with the 6WMMC7, flashed to the retail Award BIOS. That way you can install any CPU without worries.

Are you running the latest BIOS on the pro 300a? (the sticker in your pic indicates 21JT24). There were some processor patches beyond that version (including tualatin P3 / Celeron) which may help. If not, latest version is attached below.

Do you have any idea if the 6WMMC7 board can be upgraded or flashed to install any type of processor either celeron, tualin Ect.... Without getting the BIOS update error.

Sorry, can't say for sure either way...the latest IBM BIOS (attached) only mentions processor support to 933MHz (would suspect 1GHz may also be OK) so that's likely your limit unless cross-flashing to a Gigabyte retail BIOS as mentioned above by PcBytes is possible / improves on processor support beyond the IBM version.
