I have found a VLB Ark1000vl which I don't know yet if it's working or not because it misses some ram chips. The remaining chips are HY534256AS-70 which seems to match other similar cards.

I am looking to buy 3 chips to complete 1mb but there are 2 versions of this memory with very different price, the 'AS' (as the originals) are much more expensive than the 'S'. They seems to be asynchronous and synchronous versions.

Is there any issue to use S version instead of AS?

the character after "A" indicates the type of packaging s - dil 20 , j - 20/26 Thin Small Outline Package.
In practice - even memory replacements from another company work well. Buy cheap memory but more pieces. You may come across a damaged one or one on the card may be damaged - a spare will help avoid many shipments and loss of time.

Good to know I was wrong about the naming 'A' and 'AS'. Thanks for the info.
