Where do I find FM music files and which player to use ?
I would like to find real fm music to play on old sound cards like sound blaster 16

Was it .IMF the only correct format that plays similar as the track in game ? I guess this .IMF extension has information for fm-chip how to play the midi file is that correct ?
is there anyway to rip those from games.

VGM files are probably the easiest to use. There are several players for real PCs.

CM-64, CM-500, SC-55MkII, SC-88 Pro, SY22, TG100, MU2000EX, PLG100-SG, PLG150-DR, PLG150-AN, SG01k, NS5R, GZ-50M, SN-U110-07, SN-U110-10, Pocket Studio 5, DreamBlaster S2, X2, McFly, E-Wave, QWave, CrystalBlaster C2, Yucatan FX, BeepBlaster, SuperOctet!

The was an archive of .dro recordings someplace. And another one of RDOS .raw recordings.
Both are registry log dump formats.

See the links at the bottom of this page, on archive.org if you have to.

Yes, record .dro files with dosbox.
