Dear,

I thought I am not that stupid but I can’t get that new card run in:

DOS:
- config tool successful including DIAG
- msclient driver loading successful
- initializing tCP voa DHCP: FAIL. System just won’t continue. No time out nothing. Worked directly before with 3com cars perfectly. Also after deleting dhcp file of msclient - same result.

W95:
- installing card manually by provided drivers (2.0) successful
- after reboot: FAIL: card not installed correctly pls reinstall with correct driver
- after deleting all NW cards and using Hardware-Search: search finished without new hardware found.

Do you have any ideas? 386SX is the system.

BR and thanks

Curious what IRQ and Port are you setting the NIC at ? Default port for most ISA nics is 300....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Win95 on a 386SX...? Should theoretically work, but having been tortured with Win95 on a (much faster) 486DX33 at uni, I can't imagine why you would want to even try that.

That aside, how about starting with the basics - as Horun asks, it would be good to know which resources your card is using, and to double-check nothing else is (a lot of SCSI adapters default to 0x300 and MIDI can also be set there, even if 0x330 is more common).

Also, MS TCP client is a bit heavy. What happens if you use packet drivers and mTCP's DHCP.EXE?

Sorry and thanks.

All configs worked flawless before with my 3com905b.
Base is 240 Irq is 10. all no problem before with the 3com and I configured the same values with the intel. Exactly the same 😒

Ps: there are no resources double allocated

I won’t loose the feeling that it’s a card issue. Maybe not 386 compatible? All docs show yes.

I just reinstalled my 3com - no problem. I also noticed that windows hardware-search won’t find that card neither but when I manually add it it will show a window with proposed hw configs before proceeding to install drivers. See screenshots. This didn’t happen with the intel.

But again all diags results within the intel tool were fine
