This is a bit of a strange one, I have my t5730 thin client with a GeForce 7600GS installed it was running Windows ME but due to no sound drivers for the onboard audio and issues with my USB creative card I decided to give 2000 a go since I have other machines with XP.

On a fresh install with the latest nvidia drivers dxdiag reports there is no Direct3D acceleration. I tried different driver versions updating to DirectX 8.2 (I think I tried 9 as well). Even reinstalled the OS but wasn't able to get it working.

Is this a "thing"? Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues before.

Yeah I ran into that with 6800 GT under Win2k, possibly also under WinXP but don't remember for certain. Drivers in the 6x.xx - 8x.xx range seem to be very hit and miss with plenty of issues.

93.71 worked well for me under WinXP, don't remember did I try those under Win2k. Those seem to be the last drivers Nvidia released for 7-series so I guess those are the ones you tried since you mentioned using the latest drivers?
