Several weeks ago, I happened to watch Necroware's S7-VRM video.
It inspired me to want to eventually obtain a Socket 7 mainboard with an unfitted Header 7 socket (connector), and populate a new Header 7 by soldering it in.
However, this is the problem I ran into.
Intel Flexible Motherboard Design Guide mentions Header 7 and indicates that AMP (now TE-Connectivity) and Foxconn made them, but the document does not provide the manufacturer part number.
Somewhat conceptually similar Intel VRM 8.x document mentions the AMP part number for the 40 pin header, so that part is fairly easy to find online.
Does anyone know the part number from AMP and / or Foxconn so that I can search somewhere to see if I can obtain them?
It does not look like there is much inventory of Header 7 floating around some electronic parts warehouse anywhere, even in Asia.
The Necroware's video indicates that having a Header 7 populated is not absolute mandatory to use his S7-VRM module, but it will be nice to have one so that one does not incorrectly insert the module and fry the microprocessor.

I meant to say, unpopulated Header 7 PCB foot print.

My VRM's for soc 7 are 30 pin Header 7. one of mine the female is AMP 532955-5 (and found at Digikey). https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te … 532955-5/293820
Hmm think this might work but does not have the "locks" some Header 7 males have: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te … 02567-3/1126702
or https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te … 102153-7/288723
Need one that is 0.100" spaced, about 0.115" (2.92mm) contact post and 50.0µin (1.27µm) thick pins.
Believe it or not the male is similar pin thickness, spacing, etc as a male floppy drive connector....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I finally figured out the AMP / Tyco Part Number of the elusive Header 7 connector.
It is 146205-1.
Sometimes, it starts with a 5 (5-146205-1), but dropping the "5-" appears to be more common.
The AMP / Tyco alternative name is VRM 7.
The TE Connectivity product page is here.

In a somewhat related note, a comparable connector for the Socket 8 socket is (5-)146315-1.
This one is for VRM 8.x.
