I am having problems with a PCChips M825 I recently got... I am trying get a Duron 900 running on it and can't get to it to post. I did the following:

  • Changed the battery
  • Made sure FSB was at 100mhz
  • Caps all look pristine
  • Tried few different RAMs and GPUs
  • Tried two different PSUs (see pictures for specs, 12v and 5v rails are ok)

On my PC Analyser Card, I get AMIBIOS codes 07-08.

  • 07: "Fixes CPU POST interface calling pointer"
  • 08: "Initializes the CPU. The BAT test is being done on KBC. Program the keyboard controller command byte is being done after Auto detection of KB/MS using AMI KB-5."

That sounds like a lot could be wrong for a single error code! Any idea of what exactly could be wrong and how to fix?

Your POST analyser is showing the last TWO codes, it’s only freezing on one of them.

Seems to me that most of the functions defined in 08 relate to the inability to address the keyboard controller.

Trying another CPU (or trying the current CPU in another board) would rule out the “Initializes the CPU” portion of 08.

Darn it... All I could find was a late socket 462 (sempron 3000). This one worked! Although specs mentions the board was compatible with any Athlons and Durons... Well it's not!
