3Dmark 2001se and 2003 340 result - strange difference!

Hi to everyone. iam building for fun upper duper computer for Windows 98 late DX8/9 gaming and sone benchmarking.
i have succesfully finished two setups
First
Core 2 Duo E8600 oced to 4.0GHz
GA-X48-DQ6 with dual channel ddr2 800
Geforce 7900GTO pciex
sata drive and other unimportant things
Second:
Core i7 3770k oced to 4.2Ghz
Asus Maximus Gene iv, 16GB ddr3 1866 dual channel
Geforce 7900GTO
I have managed to install fully functional Windows 98 on both, albeit for Z68 there are no chipset drivers in comparsion od X48 where i managed get inf files at least.
Now when i do benches in 2001SE and 2003 340, surprisingly i got nearly same results for Core 2 Duo setup like Core i7 setup under win98. I expected much bettersingle core performance from Core i7 setup😉
Any thoughs or advices ? Results are 52 000 in 2001 and 24000 in 2003.

My guess is you have maxed out the video card, and CPU is no longer a limiting factor. What were the CPU scores in 3Dmark '03?

Try this : Re: "Linux Daily Driver / Win98 overkill" LGA1366 build

Regardless, Win98 does suck A LOT in 3DMark 03 regardless of what you do (note : v350 should work with Win98SE as well, download : LINK).
Same goes for 3DMark01 SE but to a lesser degree.
Full performance can be seen under WinXP (if you want to dual boot).
