Something like CGACAL, but for audio? Or Creative's DIAGNOSE.EXE on steroids? I keep seeing mention of having to run certain games to test if a particular sound card supports a given feature (ex: Duke Nukem II for certain ADPCM formats). Wouldn't it be nice if there was a menu driven program that just plays the various digital audio formats a given card (ie: SB 1.5, SB 2.0, SB Pro1&2, SB16) is supposed to support? Also would be nice to easily check for and test esoteric, undocumented, or just plain buggy programming methods some games use to output digital audio. There are a lot of edge cases out there with stuff that only works on real Creative hardware or even certain revisions of the DSP that would have to be included.
Besides actual sound cards, it would be useful for emulator programmers (DOSBox, SBEMU, etc.) to quickly and conveniently test their code to see if it actually works. Sadly I don't have the DOS programming chops to pull this off myself. I also don't have every SoundBlaster card to use as a reference for programming and debugging (notably the SB Pros).
