Really strange behavior with this board: Siemens-Nixdorf System Board D981 A/B/E.
I got it to boot into Windows a few times, but now it gets stuck in BIOS. It goes to a black screen after either detecting the HDD or, if no HDD is present, immediately after that, without showing errors like "No OS installed," etc.

I tried everything:

- Unplugging everything except RAM, GPU, and keyboard
- Disabling every unnecessary peripheral in BIOS
- Trying different boot devices (IDE to CF, IDE to SATA, ...) They get detected, but after the detection -> black screen and system hangs
- Resetting configuration data
- Changing every BIOS setting imaginable

The strange thing is that it worked a few times and even booted into Windows ME. After a soft restart, it now hangs every time. What could be the issue?

After it shows the following text, it immediately goes to a black screen, Num Lock freezes, and the system hangs.

After some more troubleshooting , changing the psu and also the graphics card did the trick. now it boots to windows again. Must have been something with the power delivery -the old psu was dodgy and the graphics card is now something more age appropriate - (matrox g450, before it was a GeForce 2 MX)
