Kind of strange situation, I guess it's difficult to make it work, but I'm interested to understand for personal culture

I installed my SB Live in the pci SLOT of the docking station of my IBM T42

I followed this wonderful guide by Joseph Guide: Installing Windows 9x and DOS drivers on Sound Blaster Live! cards (version 3.1)

In Windows 98 with DOS window everything works fine, I tried to play 3 games from my childhood: Stunts, Winter and Keen 4

If I reboot in pure dos the card is detected, but running Stunts and Winter the pc freezes, Keen 4 works but does not detect the sound blaster

Searching on the internet it says that the board should have a dedicated IRQ (?), I played around with the IBM bios, I only have the menu visible in the image

Playing with the settings I managed to move the blaster to IRQ 10, but there are many other devices sharing the same IRQ

Could this be the problem?

Looks like you've done everything correctly. SBEINIT appears to have found the card and initialized it. Could be an IRQ conflict, but based on the fact that you said DOS games play fine within Windows 98, my best guess would be that it is simply a compatibility issue with the chipset, which I believe in that laptop is an ICH4. I personally have never had much luck with Creative cards on any of the ICH-based Intel chipsets.

Can you set the IRQ to somethnig like 5 or 7 in the BIOS?

Can you try a more modern game that allows you to select the sound device?
Stunts, Keen 4 and I suspect Winter are all adlib games. Would be good to check if Soundblaster and midi are working or not.
That said adlib is the most basic of the options and should just work.
