Hi.

The mobo is ms-6533e ver 10b

It works with older agp 2x card, tried s3 trio 3d/2x.

No boot / no picture with universal agp cards, tried many mx400, mx440 and fx5200 cards.

What can be done to fix the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe could try a PCI FX 5500?

To me it sounds like the bios is set for AGP 2x and the mx/fx cards somehow refuse to tick back to 2x mode.

I dont think this has to do with the amp requirements, since gf4 mx and fx5200 are pretty low in requirements. Also these cards (at least mx4xx) usually work perfectly on agp 2x systems. Native they are sgp 4x (some even 8x) so these should work.

Do you have any PCI card to boot without AGP card installed, set the AGP forced to 4x mode and try the AGP card after?

Stuck at 10MHz...

Like I said s3 agp card works fine, I look at bios using that, but there is no such option to set agp 2x/4x. Intried this already.

I also tried to tape the A2 pin, since it is pulled low by the card to indicate 1.5v capability. Though this could work, but it didnt.

Omg.

Just by accident I solved the problem.

I dont know why or how, but,
I wrtie fix here, maybe useful for someone.

I cut off the plastic lock mechanisms at each of the agp slot. Now all cards work. Problem solved.

Perhaps they prevented some pins contact, I dont know.

Reason I cut them was, I just didnt like the appearance of them 😁
