I have an HP Elitedisplay that seems to work well and sync to almost anything VGA Ithrow at it BUT.

On many resolutions it perfectly syncs up but plasters a non-removable OUT OF RANGE nag box over the image and then shuts off.

The old machines I use maxed out don’t really have many resolution options and I would prefer to just remove the out of range message since it’s a perfectly readable image that isn’t cropped in any way. My very old LCDs would just say please use recommended resolution (native) and let you close the nag.

Why do they make newer screens that will sync to almost anything then bitch about it and shut off if it isn’t one of 4 or 5 common resolutions?

I have an older smaller HP Elite that is only 1600x900 and it is much less picky about the out of range message even on 4:3 resolutions beyond its native vertical resolution, I was hoping to actually have a more appropriate resolution lcd that more closely matches this system maxed out but apparently the lower res screen handles higher resolutions better than the FHD version which is ideotic.

Wish I could mod the firmware to get rid of this behavior
