I do not have an eprom programmer yet.

I would like to program a 486 motherboard BIOS for a board that does not POST.

I have heard of network adapters being used to program BIOS rom chips and I have this 3Com network adapter card which has a socket that would fit the ROM chip from the 486 board.

Model: 3C905B-TX Fast Etherlink XL PCI

Can I use this network adapter card to program the BIOS and how would I do that?

Yes, you can, but the (E)EPROM chip has to be supported by the NIC adapter. There is a limitation in size - 128 KB if I recall correctly.
