So whatever resolution I force on it through dgVoodoo is ignored by the game's engine somehow, the renderers available are Direct3D 7, OpenGL and Software rendering. Is there a fix for it? Same happens with the latest WIP version.

The game is probably windowed. It sets the screen resolution to whatever it is configured to, and then renders in a fullscreen window (that's the opengl-like way, so I guess they do the same with DX).

Resolution can only be forced to fullscreen DX applications. I mean, fullscreen through the DX API.
