Hello.

I rescued my Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 from my storage room and when I tried to start up the screen was only visible for 10 or 15 seconds. After that turns to black but not powered off because I can see the screen logo or windows but very very dark.
If I press the button to simulate the lid down the LCD panel is power off and power on again when I release. At that point I can see the image perfect for two seconds.

It works with an external monitor but I would like to fix this issue.

This laptop was saved in excellent conditions, inside their bag and safe from dust, humidity and extreme temperatures and before this it works fine.

Does anyone know something about this? Any tips or hints?

Thank you.

Do you hear a buzzing when the display is lit?

It sounds like the backlight is shutting off perhaps because of too much current required - thought that is just a guess right now.

Do you have any other LCD panels that you could plug into the Satellite 4600's backlight inverter? To see if the same fault occurs with a different CCFL. My thinking is that possibly the CCFL is too worn.
Could be that the inverter board itself has a fault, you could try replacing that since there should be some of those available for cheap.
