Hi,

I have a strange thing with my Roland SC-88.
Sometimes the SC-88 doesn't boot and the screen is black.
I must to turn off the SC-88 and power up again to boot normaly.

No sometimes SC-88 work perfectly and sometimes it doesn't initialize. I sometimes have to restart it several times.

id check electrolytic capacitors for leaking and the battery for low voltage/ leaking.
if those looked ok id check smd pins on the chips for movement (weak/broken solder) but this needs a microscope or something to magnify. Or you might try pushing down on a chip while powering on. If it works more consistently it could suggest a loose pin.
