Hello everyone new to the forums and am looking for a little guidance.

I have a wy-50 terminal that acquired from a guy who was the IT director at DEC and it fails the self test with the error of X.

Does anyone know what the self test is actually testing? It will receive data just won't send back to the Linux box .

I have an older scope (25mhz) and want to figure out if it's a bad driver ic ( I have yet to dig into the schematics and I have the wy-50+ schematics so if anyone has an idea of where to start that would be awesome.

Thanks for your help...

Welcome to Vogons 😀

According to the WY-50 Maintenance Manual ( http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/wyse/WY-50/WY-50 … ance_Manual.pdf ) it's a "MODEM port error"

I found a replacement PCB on the usual sites it at 180 bucks is to rich for my blood. That's about 65% of the cost new and 1400+ in modern bread 🥪 ... Just looking for what logic it's looking for before I hunt parts ...
