What a great old videocards if used with better drivers and software. I have some collection of drivers and software for Rage3 based cards. I mostly use them with Win9x and have 3DCIF/Direct3D/OpenGL/DVD acceleration all together. I personally like Rage XL 8MB AGP cards the most and that has similar compability like older RagePro brother from year 1997. Rage XL has some minor improvements over Rage Pro + lower power consumption. Latest driver that i am working on is based on Ati2ddad.drv and it works already with 5.38.x base + modded 3d files from 5.40.x releases. What ATi software you may use that i know nothing about? I use ATi inspector from 2003 at my Rage3 or do you know that ATi TV out works also in pure DOS. Maybe someone could tell me what ATi software is latest for RagePro cards, like MMC6.30 and ATi Video Player 5.35, i am sure i have missed some more great drivers and software for Rage3, they can be for Rage2 also, Rage3 is Rage2 compatible for the most part i think. RagePro and RageXL are latest 3DCIF cards. What about Argonaut BRender and Criterion RenderWare API for Rage3 or it is Rage2 exlusive, they have all Mach64 core ? ATi DVD had some region changer tool + ATi Rage had 3DCIF demos, that i have found. What about Rage3 bioses and flash tools tha work. If you have some software or fast drivers that you use and it is compatible with Rage3, share it!

Thank you!

Great collection ATi stuff

Latest 3DCIF driver for Rage2/Rage3 is now v4.11.2611, its from 5.38.x base and 5.40.x 3d files, works also with Rage XL agp, could someone test it with Rage Mobility agp (Rage3)? Did you know that Rage3 can do 8bit paletted textures out of the box over Direct3D and even OpenGL can be used with 8bit @ software help. 3D Mark99Max@default 800x600x16 score over 2300+ with Rage XL vga mem OC, without any OC its 1750 + and it can be improved. We are talkin about 1997 hardware here and low end card. Bilinear disabled for OpenGL for better performance, can be turned back, OpenGL multituxure can be used for RagePro, best multitexture OpenGL is v1073. Most sensible Celeron/Duron@ 600Mhz setups get 3DMark99Max core without any OC 1500+ points easly.

Not final driver, its 90% done. Rage3 3DCIF/D3D/OpenGL/ATiDVD support, 3Dfx emulation also added and works with small list of 3Dfx games. Try it out and how i can improve it?

Thank you!

For Rage2/Rage2c you should downgrade macxdd32.dl_ from dd32/r2latest/5039 folder and overwrite default macxdd32.dl_ 5043 and install it with ConfigSetup normally. With Rage2CAGP i have tested TombRaider (CIF) + Croc:Legend of the Gobbos 1.0 (CIF) + CIF demos and they work as they should. Macxw4.inf has readme inside. Thank you!

Added atifont.co_ (atifont.com) to fix 8x14 fonts with Rage2/Rage3 cards.
Games like Soleau Software's The Mice Men / Classic SimCity works with it.
Keen 4-6 fix Re: Keen 4-5-6 choppy scrolling on EGA card

Someone has more Rage2/Rage3 cards add to this list? Updated macxw4.inf
(XL PCI 4752 and probably XC PCI 4753 does not work and they are with ?) .

Hi, I have tried your drivers with my Thinkpad X20 which has a Radeon Mobility M (Rage 3, 4MB).

Regarding games supporting ATI CIF:

Tomb Raider: crash at startup
Croc: severe texture corruption

I'll be testing some D3D games and OpenGL after that and report back.

Shipwreckers! (also known as Overboard!) works perfectly at 800x600, albeit with some tiny hiccups that happen at regular intervals (maybe it's trying to access the CD ROM for audio?)

Thief: The Dark Age works beautifully without any stutters at high settings and 800x600

I'll test some OpenGL games next.

Thank you! So with this driver it could bring back Rage XL AGP and Rage XC AGP and 3DCIF with 4.11.2611 driver, but not Mobility.

For OpenGL use ConfigNo3Dfx.bat to gain OpenGL performance and same goes with Config3Dfx.bat and now some glide/ultrahle n64 games should also work. I have used NFS2SE @ Glide with it. Not perfect, but its playable. ATi DVD3.2/ ATi MMC6.3 for DVD should work well for Rage3. Thank you!

From XGL200 readme

Games:
Perfect:
None 😀

Almost perfect:
MadTrax
Croc - Legend of the Gobbos
Need for Speed 2
Outlaws
UltraHLE /w Mario 64
UltraHLE /w Quake 64
UltraHLE /w Zelda 64
UltraHLE /w Bomberman Hero

Very playable:
UltraHLE /w Doom 64 (very dark)
UltraHLE /w StarFox
UltraHLE /w WaveRace
UltraHLE /w Banjo Kazooie
UltraHLE /w Tetris 64

Playable, but a little slow:
UltraHLE /w Goldeneye
UltraHLE /w Mario Kart
UltraHLE /w Rampage World Tour

Playable, but ugly:
NBA Live 98
Pandemonium 2
Unreal

These are the only games I have to try it with, but let me know if you have different results!

D3D 8bit paletted textures should work out of the box and OpenGL 8bit paletted textures workround is is here if you need or want to try.
ATi Rage3 paletted textures with OpenGL possible with GLDirect. For me, best worked GLDirect 3.0.0 CAD Driver + Disable Mipmapping.

Hexen II (in OpenGL) works as well just with the drivers supplied, without any modification (and by deleting opengl32.dll in the Hexen folder)

Thank you for testing! I have used glquake and quake2 myself, both are good. 👍
OpenGL version is 4.12.1.1091, click bat file and it copies atidbg.ini to c:\windows.

What xvid/divx codecs are fastest to use with Win9x and ATi Video Player? Quickly tested FFDSHOW, they are working.
ATi DVD 3.1 that i added before works with my 4.11.2611 driver and Rage3 for sure, like this latest ATi Video Player 5.35.
