I have a dilemma! I'm building a Pentium mmx MS-DOS PC to slot in below my Pentium III 650 system. My problem is that I have a pile of sound cards I want in this thing and am not sure how I should go about configuration as in currently my Pentium III houses a sb32 and a audician 32 and I have adlib/opl3 stuff pointed at the audician by default.
To lay it out on a card by card basis my first card is either a creative ct3670 or a ct3600 both are maxed out on ram but I like the ct3670 to hook up my Roland ra-30. Next up I want to put in a ensoniq opus for variety of midi and the semi intelligent mode mpu 401. I originally planned on putting in a non pnp aztech card for adlib/sound blaster pro stuff. Finally I have a picogus on the way to round things out internal cards wise.
Obviously the picogus could replace the adlib/sb as well as all the mpu needs. Externally I have a Roland ra-30 for sound canvas, an ra-50 for mt-32 as well as Yamaha modules for xg.
The motherboard is an intel 430vx chip set based board and I will be using a tnt2 m64 video card for its compatibility.
Will the picogus play nice in such a mixed up mesis of cards? I've heard some people have issues with it in multi card systems.
I'm guessing at the least id need to set up a menu to select which sound card is talked to but not sure about things like IRQs and DMA if I can hide these at the software level using something like unisound.
I appreciate the help!
