There are several XT clone projects using FE2010 / PT8010 for chipsets, but what about M1101 / UM82c088 / TACT80101? These chips are scarse, but possibly there's still stock. Datasheet for UM82c088 is available (should be applicable for the other two as well). They are packaged in QFP100, and should not be too hard to route on two or four layer board.

Why these chips are not as popular for modern XT clones? Is it just that FE2010 / PT8010 is more widely available or are there other reasons as well?

Also there's TD3300A in QFP100, but it might have different pinout.
