Hello, I have the weird problem that my Win98 crashes in desktop with my Gf4 4600.
By "in desktop" I mean I'm not playing any games, I'm just doing stuff e.g. Windows Explorer
When the crash happens I see the video output going crazy for a second and then there's no more video signal.
A regular reset doesn't resolve the issue because as soon as the GUI loads the next time it immediately crashes again.
I have to power off the PC to resolve the issue.
I found out a lot already but I'm trying to make sense in it:
- freeze happens at 1024x768 resolution consistently after 1 minute
- it doesnt freeze when I uninstall Nvidia drivers
- it doesnt freeze in safe mode
It gets weirder because it doesnt freeze in games like Unreal or Unreal Tournament (which I run in 800x600).
So I changed my desktop resolution to 800x600 and it hasn't frozen since.
I tried any NVidia driver between 30.xx and 77.xx with the same result.
Anyone has any idea how/why this happens? Thank you
