Dead Pentium 2?

Hi. I bought an untested Asus P2B-F and P2 450Mhz. The board turned out to be working properly, but the p2 wouldn't start on either the P2B-F or the P2-99b. I tried FSB at 66mhz, 100mhz, and 75mhz. I disassembled the processor, cleaned the contacts, and blew away the dust, but everything seemed intact, and the crystal was not chipped or discolored. When I turned it on, the crystal would heat up, but there was no image on the screen, and the speaker remained silent in the absence of memory or a graphics card. Is the patient dead? What could have killed him

I don't know if this is the issue, but the 450 was the fastest P-II, and thus may need a newer BIOS version than your boards have. Which CPU have you tested the boards working with? And which sSpec does your 450 have?

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

SL368 100mhz fsb

Both mainboards have the latest bios, I tested them with slotkey mendocino 553 and Slot1 Coppermine 733

I would wiggle the CPU in the slot and repeat it a few times if it doesn't boot. If it doesn't work in 2 boards then most likely it's a dead CPU. Somebody must have touched the PCB and killed it with static discharge.

I thought so too, but in the process of re-insertion from the board to the board, my p3 733mhz eventually stopped working. In the same way, it did not show any signs of life, I thought the board had killed another processor. I cleaned the P2B-F slot again with alcohol, but it did not help, and after cleaning the P2Z-B , it started working, but I do not know what happened. The P2 still does not show any signs of life. It's just the first time I've dealt with SLOT1 systems, and they don't have a typical problem with poor contact in the slot? The Slotket, which works fine on both boards, has thicker textolite and sits more tightly in the slot.
