So I decided to replace my hard drive after having strange failures with Windows 98 SE on multiple versions (regular SE and service pack 3) and I ordered another 120 GB hard drive though I ended up getting sent a 160 GB hard drive. Windows seems to now be struggling to start on the hard drive (locking up during start up with blinking cursor though it does prompt me to choose normal or safe mode) and I suspect that it is related to Windows not liking drives over 127 GB (Windows ME fdisk incorrectly reported the drive size as roughly 40 GB). I am using a Maxtor Diamond Max 16 160GB IDE drive, is it worth it to continue trying with this drive? I know there is a patch from my own research but I don't know if there is a better way or not.

Hi, I think it has to do with LBA48 support.

Maybe needs a newer FDISK program, too.
