Hi there,

user Tronix created an AIL2 (ADV) driver for the CMS / Game Blaster, as it never existed. It was really a great effort, CMS / Game Blaster can play 12 voices so there's no lack of polyphony there. However, considering the nature of how AIL2 works, trying to play rhythm channel on quare wave generating devices, at least in this case sounds super weird. I immediately noticed this when playing games like Legend of Kyrandia and Dune II. When playing the rhythm channel notes it impacts some sequences making them sound out of tune.

So i tried editing Tronix original work, the idea being during note on / note off parameters avoid the rhythm channel completely. After some trials and failures i think i managed to do it. Attach you'll find a zip file with PX player (by Bristlehog), both the tweaked and old driver, a Kyrandia XMI file and a batch file which will go through the sequences alternating between the old and new driver. You can probably use DOSBox if you don't have a real CMS card.

Rename the txt extension to zip, try and hear it for yourself.
