Since installing the latest Windows 10 09-Sep-2025 update I have been unable to access my Windows NT V4.00 SP2 + SP6a systems, has anyone else seen the same issue and/or know of a fix please?

file.php?id=226469

Ping works , but such as DIR \\RG2\SIV fails. I have also seen NetName Deleted (ERROR_NETNAME_DELETED) reported.

When I used Windows 7 SP1 or W10 without the 09-Sep-2025 update all worked OK.

At the moment I can copy files from W10, but can't push files from W10 to NT4.

The patch includes fixes in both NTLM and SMB, so I'd say it's a very probable cause for your issues.
Did you check if it did something totally silly, like arbitrarily disabling SMB or changing your settings?

The problem may be similar to my problem with Windows 11 vs. Samba - Re: Windows for Workgroups TCP/IP Disk

Thank you, I did the Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false and still get the issue even after a reboot of this W10 system.

Is there something in that thread I have missed please?

Thanks for the info ! Does it effect connecting to XP ? Will set my W10 updates paused until you guys figure it out 😀

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I doubt it as it's OK with \\ALF, my Windows 2000 Alpha system, that said I have not tried it.

I am going to do dism /online /Remove-Package /packagename:Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~19041.6332.1.15 which should remove it.

You haven't missed anything - I only meant that one single post.
So I guess the problem is different...

When I've set it back to "Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $true", I get the following when trying to access a Samba share:

The attachment error.png is no longer available

Thank you and it looks like it is. After I did the remove things are working again and I can now easily push changed SIV files to my PowerPC system and build SIV32P.exe .

Has anyone managed to access Windows 2000 + Windows NT 4.0 systems from Windows 11 and if so what was required to so this please?

I have just tried after the latest W11 patch Tuesday changes and neither work, but WXP does. Windows 2000 thinks the password is incorrect when it isn't and Windows NT4 is not even seen.

I obviously have SMB 1.0/CIFS + SMB Direct installed and set HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa LmCompatibilityLevel to 1

All 3 systems were accessible from this W10 system.

I ran into this and per the log in eventvwr, it seems it only tries port 445 connections now--explaining why Windows 2000 works but some of the earlier platforms don't

I ran into this issue earlier today. I found the below thread, which seems to suggest Microsoft is planning to resolve it in a future update:

For the time being I've rolled back to the system restore point immediately before the September update was installed.
