Hello,
Wanted to share steps on getting a Logitech G923 working on Windows XP with force feedback. I have tested this with GTR2 in Windows XP Pro x64; and all buttons, pedals, and shifters are working. I do not see any issue with the force feedback effects provided by GTR2 with the OEMForceFeedback settings. I do not have a G27 to compare it to for FFB, but I imagine both use a very similar code path when "Trueforce" is not supported.
Windows XP Pro x64 actually detects the G923 and installs drivers that allow everything to function, except the FFB.
First verify device id by going to device manager, and opening the properties of the USB Human Interface Device that has the first device index of the G923
- For example, you may have multiple USB devices listed who show a 'Location 0: Logitech G923'. But if you go to details tab, and select Matching Device Id, you should see USB\PID_c266&MI_00
1. Download and install Logitech Gaming Software 5.10
2. Open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\WMDrivers\wmjoyhid.inf
3. Find all instances of VID_046D&PID_C29B (hardware id of G27) and replace with VID_046D&PID_C266
4. Under the Standard.{YOUR OS ARCH HERE} model section (Standard.NTamd64 for XP 64 bit) append &MI_00 to the PID_C266 device id anywhere it is found
5. Open Device Manager and locate the G923 USB device by opening the properties of the 'USB Human Interface Device' that matches device id you added to the inf
6. Choose update driver
7. Then choose ' No not this time' for windows update, Next
8. Install from a list or specific location, Next
9. Dont search. I will choose the driver to install, Next
10. Have Disk...
11. Browser..., point to the edited wmjoyhid.inf, OK
12. Logitech G27 is highlighted and selected, Next
13. After drivers install, reboot.
GTR2 force feedback seems to be working as it should, and how I remember using the old Logitech Wheels back in the day.
Next step is working out how to get Logitech Profiler to detect it as a G27 and allow editing the default Force Feedback settings from the UI like you would a G27.
