I bought wizardry seven for my daughters because I liked wizardry 1 as a kid.
The problem is that I cant seem to get it working on my modern day Dell PC 4600. IT has 2.8 GHz and 248 MB of RAM.

I installed thew game from 3.5 floppies (original game disks).

THen i downloaded dosbox .63. I have mounted the wizardry directory within dosbox so it reads dsavant>. But when I type in "ds" which should start the game (and does for some people according to various forums) it just freezes up and goes to "NT>ds". It goes no further than that. I cannot figure out what to do now and I really really want to get this game going for my girls. Anyt help would be greatly appreciated. My email is colbyfriend@hotmail.com. Fell free to contact me directly.

Also I have windows XP operating system.

Also I have another computer that I downloaded dos 6.22 onto and it wont run on that either. The other computer is a dell also. I would prefer to just be able to use the game on my Dell with XP.

Sincerely,
Colby Friend

Please, post the exact commands you used in DOSBox. Also, try running the game WITHOUT SOUND first. Wizardry 7 is very picky as far as sound effects are concerned. SB effects probably won't work under DOSBox. You may need to use Internal Speaker instead.

I'm pretty sure he typed the following lines, as I was the one who game him the CONF file to begin with:

mount c c:
c:
cd dsavant
ds

After that, it does the NT>ds crash thing. Could it be a problem with Windows NT?

I just wanted you all to know that i got wiz 7 working and i am very happy now. I did it by using this patch that i discovered on this site. It looks like a patch that sir tech made to make wiz 7 adaptable for modern pcs and is probably already patched in versions obtained online. Since my version was the original still in the box, it didnt have the patch. Anyway the link to the patch is this:

Good luck all.
