VOGONS

I have had an RS/6000 7011-220 for some time now that did not have a video card. I recently acquired the Gt1 Video board that is unique to the 220 and 230 systems. However, it did not come with the required riser board to install it. As luck would have it, I discovered that it uses the same 80 pin connector that "SCA" SCSI drives use! The video card mates perfectly with an 80 pin SCSI drive. As these connectors are still readily available on DigiKey and the like, I'm tempted to make up a FPC riser of my own to see if I can get it going. However, I'm a bit worried if the connections are simply straight through or not and I can't find any photos of this card or its riser anywhere. I have found some drawings on https://www.ardent-tool.com/RS6000/GT1.html, but they don't show the wiring or pinout. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone else has one of these Gt1 video cards and are willing to upload some photos of the riser board, I'd love to see those. Beeping it out on a meter to see if all of the connections are straight through would be even more helpful. Thanks in advance if anyone is able to provide this.

I'll probably just go for a custom riser in a few weeks regardless and report back on my success or failure in this thread. These machines and their hardware seem extremely uncommon, but it would be pretty neat to have a working example (with video) of a computer with the chip that ultimately evolved into the PowerPC 601.
