At the moment i could fit Celeron 333 up to Celeron 1.4GHz with it.
Its old Compaq Presario case, GA-6WMMC7 rev 4.0 motherboard.
OS will be Windows 98 SE and RAM 256MB or up to 512MB PC100.
What resolution can this VGA handle and what CPU would be good?

I think the GeForce FX range graphics cards were released in 2003. So your 1.4GHz chip is probably the closest you have there but still a little on the slow side to get the most from your graphics card. Probably a higher end Pentium 4 or Athlon XP would be a closer match. If I recall correctly it should be able to output QXGA (2048x1536) But for 3d games it will be much lower. If you were happy to turn all the eye candy off it could play games like Unreal Tournament 2003 at 1024x768 when paired with a quick CPU.

I don't think that motherboard supports Tualatin processors, are you planning on using an adapter? I've got a Powerleap Tualatin adapter that works nicely in a lot of old boards but it adds some height so you have to be careful with the cooler you use.

Gigabyte says FCPGA processors here:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-6WMMC7-rev-4x/sp#sp

The retro web says everything before Tualatins here:
https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/gigaby … ga-6wmmc7#chips

Anyway if you can somehow get a 1.4 Celeron in there that should do a decent job with an FX5500, those cards are very slow.

Here i can see that Celeron Tualatins are supported with Rev 4.x boards.

Motherboard came with Celeron 700, i will find out what it takes. 😀

Thank you! So even with 64bit memory you all think that max cpu is the best for fx5500 pci.

https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/gigaby … a-6wmmc7-1#bios

That chart is weird and you're right upon looking at it, it does seem to say P3-Celeron 1.4 is supported.

Good luck!
