Hello everyone,
I’ve started a YouTube project focused on testing and showcasing old graphics cards.
The goal is to evaluate them in a fair and consistent way, using a setup that highlights GPU performance rather than CPU limits.
Although the Core 2 Duo E7600 postdates many of the GPUs I test, I intentionally use it:
its modest performance reduces CPU bottlenecks without masking differences between cards, so the focus stays on the GPUs themselves.
Alongside well-known titles, I also feature less mainstream and often overlooked games to keep things fresh and interesting.
My game selection follows a clear method:
Library of a lot of PC (demo) versions (1997–2009)
Games are chosen randomly.
Based on the GPU reference design release year.
Five games from five years → reference year ± 2 years.
Only PC release dates count (console ports excluded).
Example:
For the Guillemot 3D Prophet DDR-DVI (retail Feb 2000, nVIDIA reference Dec 1999), the test covers 1997–2001:
1997 – G-Police
1998 – Forsaken
1999 – Quake III Arena (reference year)
2000 – Colin McRae Rally 2.0
2001 – Max Payne
This approach keeps the testing authentic and era-appropriate, avoiding unrealistic scenarios like running a 1990s card on games released five years later.
A ±2-year window reflects what these GPUs were realistically used for when new.
New videos are released every 1–2 weeks on saturday 10:00 AM Central European Time (CET), covering a different GPU each time.
