Now that I have joined, I can post here. Also, I can give complete information.
Anyway, so Earthsiege runs just fine (except that my throttle and rudder don't work) except that the options to turn on sound (sound, music, and speech) are all grayed out.
I have (pardon the missing information, I didn't buy the computer:)
Pentium 4 3.8 Ghz
1 Gb of Ram
Radeon X800 XT (unknown RAM) (video card)
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZA (sound card)
Windows XP (if it were my choice, I'd have 98SE. Oh, well...)
The problem happens every time I try to run the game. I have DOSBox .63 I changed parts of the configuration file to try to solve the problem, but that didn't make a difference. I set the cycles to 20,000. I set the MIDI to win32.
Oh, and one more thing. I'm using the CD-ROM version of the game, not the floppy disk one. The game's system requirements are (I've removed the things that can be taken for granted:)
A VGA Graphics Card and VGA Color Monitor.
An MPC-1 or better CD-ROM Drive
(The following are reccomended:)
486 MHz or better.
One of the following sound cards: Sound Blaster or 100% compatabile, Sound Blaster Pro, Sound Blaster 16, AdLib or 100% compatabile, Roland LAPC-1 or MT-32, and General MIDI (using true MPU-401 controller.) (Note: you will get NO sound effects, ONLY music, with the Roland or General MIDI.)
What do I need to change? Or do I need to wait for a better version of DOSBox?
