Hi everyone,

I have a GeForce 6100 AM2 Pentium 4 board, and the onboard USB doesn't work. I have a addon USB card to allow usb to work. I have read the administration guide of the board, but can't see how I can get onboard usb to work. Perhaps the USB are not longer work.

Anybody know this kind of board, and what would be the correct jumper settings?

thank you

What's the motherboard model? Is it AM2 or Pentium 4? It can't be both. Also what OS are you using?

On a motherboard that new there won't be any jumpers for enabling or disabling devices. Though there may be a jumper to switch the PS/2 or USB ports between normal +5 volts and 5v standby power, and if that jumper is missing completely the ports won't have any power at all.

The first thing I would try is resetting all the BIOS settings in case the USB ports are disabled for some reason.

As onethirdxcubed said, check the jumpers and look if the ports have power.
If everything looks right then I'm afraid you have a dying chipset. On nforce 4xx is not a matter of if but only when. Does the network work? That's usually the first thing to go.

If the JUSBV1/JUSBV2 jumpers are missing it would make the USB ports appear not to work

The ethernet LAN port is working. For the USB , JUSBV1 and JUSBV2 have the jumpers closed at 1-2 individually. There are other headers JUSB2 and JUSB3 located at bottom of motherboard (you can see the photos on my previous link from retroweb site), no jumpers at all. Not sure if I need to put jumpers on them.

The JUSB2 and JUSB3 headers are to plug in more USB ports (typically on the front of the case)

after all, the onboard usb ports are possibly defect, I think I will rely on the addon USB card...
