Hello guys,
I've just had a Roland SC-8850 Sound Canvas imported to Canada. However, on the back the labelled voltage is 100 volts. I am not sure if I am supposed to plug it directly into the mains outlet, or I need to get a step-down transformer for it.

If it's anything like the SC-88, you can open it and resolder the mains input to the appropriate transformer tap for 120V. Other than that, ideally you would use a 120V -> 100V step-down transformer, but it should be able to run on 120V mains, although you may encounter some side-effects like more heat being produced. I have several Japanese 100V consoles that run fine on 120V, but in the end it depends on the power supply design.
