Hi,

I’m trying to see if there is a way to repack the files extracted from DIGMUSIC.BUN of The DIG. I already managed to extract them using Resource File Creator-Dumper. The files have a header that says COMP.

I want to know if it’s possible to convert these files to something like WAV, edit or lower the quality, and then convert them back to COMP so the DOS game can use them. My goal is to make the game run on a 386DX40, because without music it runs very well.

Does anyone know if this is possible? i know is possible to get wav files, but repack again in the COMP format? no idea about lucasart comp/imus etc sorry

Thanks!

For now, i made a dummy DIGMUSIC.BUN, just replace the original with this one, and game will run without music, FX and voices only, and now work fine in the 386DX40, even work fine in a 386SX except videos

is the music what slow down the game, sadly. I dont like much the dig music, but anyways still looking a way to reduce quality of music, not just remove it

attach the dummy file

The attachment DIGMUSIC.zip is no longer available

Scummvm has an optional utility 'compress_scumm_bun' - someone hacked a version of it to extract the tracks themselves (so it must know the internal file structure):

But I can't find anyone that has written a tool to inject replacements.
