Good afternoon,
For my first post on Vogons forums I would like to offer my greetings and to confirm a repair which was reported some time ago:
Re: Perfect ISA soundcard, in theory
I have an Acer Magic S23 ISA sound card with the Crystal Semiconductor CS4232 chipset. It is connected to an MSI MS-6163 motherboard which uses the Intel 440BX chipset. The processor is a Pentium II SL357 and there is 64MB RAM.
I am very happy with the card as it has a discrete YMF262 OPL3 chip and it works well under MS-DOS and Windows 98. However, I noticed that after I had connected the card, the system would hang on the POST screen during a soft reboot, so that I had to power it off and off again for it to boot correctly.
I can confirm that replacing the 10uF, 16V capacitor C92 with a 1uF 50V one has corrected this issue. I did not try a 2.2uF capacitor, although it was reported that this might also work.
