Hi there,
i read all your posts, attempting to get AoD to work.
I came here looking how to solve my AoD problems, i found no help, sorry, but i found a solution:

My AoD DOS version is running in DosBox, all attempts using WinXPs different modes failed. I installed and tried to run the game several times, finally there was only one way how to get AoD running with sound, incl. music!

Step 1:
Download and install DosBox http://dosbox.sourceforge.net

(system inforamtions: my cdrom is drive "h", my dosgamefolder is "f:\dosgames")

Step 2: Mount your folder and your cdrom in DosBox, my way worked like this:

1mount d h:\ - t cdrom   

this mounts my cd drive "h" as Dos-cd drive "d:"

1mount c f:\dosgames

this mounts the harddisk as drive "c:"

Step 3: install the game from cd

1d:
2install

Step 4:
Define your Soundsettings:
I installed AoD with:

1 SoundBlaster, IRQ 7 and DMA 1

I guess the other Cards should work as well (SB 16 & II)

Finally change to your "AODCD" folder on drive c: and type "aod" to run the game.

Problems:
I installed in WinXP at first, that does not work, only the intro is played.
I installed in DosBox and quitted the game, this seems to be the worst you can do, cause thereafter you cant get aod to run again. Its crashing with the same failure as usual on my system, something like "HIM error, couldn´t open sound.cfg".

So the only way ist to install and play, once you quitted you may have to reinstall the game, setting sound again doesn´t fix the problem.

but its running and its great fun again...... 🙄 😁 🙄
