I see drivers exist for Windows 98, but I don't see any for DOS 6.22.

I could use IDE to SATA converters, but I'd prefer to use a PCI SATA controller in my next build.

Edit:
The controller I'd like to use is based on the Silicon Image 3114 chip.

They use INT13h and INT13h extensions provided by BIOS.

There is no driver required for DOS if the card has a boot ROM.

It's the same situation as SCSI in period-correct times. The option ROM will let you run DOS, but if it is not VDS-compliant, or you launch a program under a DOS extender that is not VDS-compliant, you will need double-buffering which you can get from SmartDrive.

Note that with the SII, I've run into a reproducible issue in the option ROM where, when both a hard drive and CD-ROM are connected, it refuses to boot, thinking the hard drive count is zero. That SII also has both RAID and Normal firmware, you can look at other threads, as you may want to flash the Normal firmware.

Good to know, thanks!

I have the non-RAID version of the card, and I was planning on using an onboard IDE port for the optical drive.
