Monitor scaling issue

I have a WinXP rig with a GTX680 and got a ViewSonic VX2025wm monitor because I like it‘s design.
Problem is, the image won’t scale when connected on DVI. Well, I didn’t try a VGA cable because I want DVI but it should work I guess.
Native monitor resolution is 1680x1050, which works but the image is larger than the screen. You can scroll up/down and left/right with the mouse though.
I didn’t find any setting on the monitor OSD, only setting to adjust should be found in the nvidea control panel - that insists my monitor is actually a TV so I can’t change any settings in the menu.
Also this message keeps popping up in the OSD saying I should change my display resolution to 1680x1050 - but is already set.
I tried changing DVI on the GPU but that did not solve the problem.
I’m using nvidia driver version 368.81 by the way.

Any thoughts?

Try 355.98 or even earlier. The general consensus is that Windows XP support got progressively worse in these later drivers. Your GTX680 was released in 2012, so you have a lot more leeway in older driver support than those of us trying to use GTX980Ti's and such.

I will give that a try, thanks!
Downloaded 337.88 and also 306.33, just in case the first one doesn’t work.
